To help you get the best experience possible, CAPA places you in a site that best fits your academic major, personal interests, and abilities.
NOTE: Part-time internship placements are for 15 to 20 hours per week; you will receive 3 to 6 credits.
High standards of quality in all of CAPA’s internship placements
Over the last 22 years, CAPA has built a solid network of organizations in our Global City locations. This means that we can provide you with placement options in your desired field.
All internship sites must go through an intensive assessment process conducted by CAPA, ensuring that you are provided meaningful work assignments to help you develop industry-related skill sets. Your internship will also give you the opportunity for international networking so that you are competitive in the job market.
CAPA’s Learning through Internships (LTI) seminar series takes you beyond the average internship!
The Learning through Internships seminar series gives students the opportunity to apply classroom learning to the workplace and social environment of the host culture, to expand professional skills, and earn academic credit.
This seminar series explores societal and professional themes within the international work environment in order to inform and enrich the internship experience. Themes include:
- Leadership and decision making across national or cultural borders
- The role of communication in the workplace
- The impact of national governmental regulations on organizations, projects, team and individuals
- Personal and professional development and the articulation of the wide range of skills gained through an international internship
The seminar classroom is a community of global interns. Students learn collaboratively, composing a forum to discuss with one another the wider significance of individual internship experiences. Group discussion, topical guest lectures, examinations of contemporary issues in the program location and research projects provide unique opportunities to learn and develop.
What do former students say about LTI?
“The professor of my Learning through Internships class definitely inspired me and my classmates to learn from our experiences at each other’s internships, and the material she taught strengthened our business-related skills.”
~Deb Kick, CAPA Alumna Spring 2014 (read full article)
“The Learning through Internships class was always interesting … the professor, made it a lot of fun. We would discuss our internships and the differences between the work places in London compared to back home … I learned so much from that class about my own work, strengths, weaknesses and how potential employers could possibly see me. The things that I learned in that class are things I consider each time I apply for something or write anything. It was a really amazing class.”
- Seminars meet regularly throughout the term
- Students receive 3-6 credits for their participation in the Learning through Internships Seminar AND completing their internship requirements
- To earn credit, students complete 12-32 hours per week at their internship (hours vary based on location, credits earned and your home campus requirements)
- Ask your program advisor for the details specific to your program!
