Abroad In London

FALL SEMESTER

CAPA London in the Fall

Shorter days and colder nights are typical during the fall months, but don’t dare stay indoors - there is much to see and do in London during this magical season. See the festive lights while on a walking tour of the city, find a little nook in a café to do your homework, or enjoy cultural traditions during big events like Bonfire Night.

What are the admissions requirements for this program?

To apply for a CAPA program, you must meet the following admissions criteria:

  • You must be at least 18 years of age
  • You must have a minimum GPA of 2.8 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • It is strongly recommended that you are the equivalent of at least a 2nd semester sophomore
  • Submit your completed application along with supporting documents and your deposit by the program deadline. Failure to send all required documentation by the deadline could result in cancellation of your application for this program.
  • You must be in good standing with your home institution and will be required to present two recommendations with your application.
Are there scholarships available?

Yes! Each year, we award $1.5 million in study abroad scholarships, grants, and affiliate benefits. Check out our Financing and Scholarships page for more information and to apply.

How will I gain cultural exposure?

We have a cultural immersion program called My Global City. This is a calendar full of fun social events and activities that provide you with a variety of opportunities to gain cultural exposure while on your program. Events are either free or low-cost.

Examples of My Global City events include:

  • London: Enjoying a multi-course dinner at a famous curry house on Brick Lane
  • Florence: Walking through the secrets rooms of the Medici family at Palazzo Vecchio
  • Sydney: Attending TropFest, the world’s largest short film festival and one of Australia’s most prestigious and most iconic cultural events
  • Dublin: Visiting the National Museum of Ireland to explore an amazing collection of artifacts dating back to 7,000 BC
  • Shanghai: Exploring the Old French Concession, once governed by France, an adventure in architecture full of shops and restaurants
  • Buenos Aires: Taking dance lessons and watching world-renowned tango artists at the World Tango Festival
  • Barcelona: Learning about Mediterranean cuisine with a tapas tasting
Can I do an internship?

Yes! Global internships are available at all of our program locations. We offer mainly part-time internships but full-time internships are available in a few locations.

Note: Some locations do not offer internships during the Summer term. Internships in Barcelona, Buenos Aires, and Florence have a language requirement.

Check the Global Internships page for more details.

How can I get involved with my host city's community?

You can get involved with your host city's community in different ways, depending on the location.

Volunteer opportunities are available in all of our program locations, however, these are organized differently in each location. Sample volunteering activities include:

  • Assisting with the London Marathon
  • Operating fundraising stations on behalf of NGOs and charities
  • Soup kitchen support
  • Community clean up events
  • Teaching and mentoring young children

In London only, there is a service-learning course where you can earn credit for working in a community-based project to help fulfill the needs of that particular community.

How do I transfer my credits back to my home campus?

Transferring credits can vary at each university depending on their arrangements with CAPA. It’s best to speak with your CAPA Program Manager to find out your specific situation, but here are the  general steps:

  • Meet with your registrar or academic advisor.
  • Find out the appropriate paperwork you will need to ensure your courses transfer back to your home campus.
  • Fill out CAPA School of Record forms if your school requires an official transcript for study abroad grades. Your CAPA advisor will send these to you and can help answer any questions you have.
  • Go abroad!
  • Attend your classes and work hard for great grades.
  • Receive your grades.

Final grades are sent to your home campus four to eight weeks after classes end. If you need additional transcripts, contact CAPA Boston.
