Internships in Sydney
Internships are available in businesses of every kind, as well as non-profit and nongovernmental organizations. Our local staff visit each CAPA internship site, many of which are frequent recipients of CAPA interns. You are placed in sites within commuting distance of the center that best meet your individual interests, abilities, experience and academic background.
You can earn 3-6 credits through CAPA’s Learning through Internship course which you will take in addition to an internship placement. This seminar meets 1.5 per week. Semester students participate in their internship for 20* hours per week. Summer students participate in their internship for 20* hours per week if part-time and 32* hours per week if full-time.*Please check with your home campus or CAPA staff to confirm your institution’s specific requirements.
Starting an internship abroad with CAPAAll internship students participate in a seminar series entitled Learning through Internships throughout the internship experience. This course is the vehicle through which academic credit is earned and is a forum for students to share, interpret and analyze experiences while working abroad. Faculty act as mentors providing guidance and support during internships. You will write papers and reflective journals and make oral presentations examining the real learning that occurs at your internship, with opportunities to examine and articulate the value of this experience. You will produce a portfolio at the end of the internship, demonstrating achievement of the learning and development objectives outlined in the course.CAPA internships provide lasting resultsStudents are monitored throughout their internships to ensure that they are receiving appropriate training and guidance. At the end of each session, students evaluate their experience. These evaluations are shared with their home campus.
