Vice President of Human Resources
Joan has over 15 years of HR experience in healthcare, technology, and international education. She brings existing knowledge of CAPA, having worked as the HR manager for NETC/CAPA from 2000-2004.
Joan began her professional career as a Staff Assistant at the Ukrainian Research Institute at Harvard University, and as part of an internship program, she supported the Vice President of Diversity at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. Equating HR to "global diplomacy," Joan progressively built her career in a variety of for-profit and non-profit organizations based in the U.S. and abroad, including at MIT, where she received departmental awards for Collaboration and Community Building, and Creativity and Innovation. Just before coming back to CAPA, Joan served as Vice President of Human Resources for Vista Higher Learning.
She holds an MA in Intercultural Relations from Lesley University and a BA in Modern Languages (French, Italian, Russian) from McGill University in Montreal. Combining her passion for education, international travel and Human Resources, Joan has a demonstrated ability to positively impact organizations through strategic consulting, organizational development, employee relations, and other initiatives to foster a vibrant and results-oriented entrepreneurial work culture in support of CAPA's mission.
