Major: Hospitality and Tourism Management
Internship abroad: Royal Aeronautical Society
I was given the amazing opportunity to work for the Royal Aeronautical Society in the heart of London as an event planning intern. Not only was I placed in an internship that fit my exact career interests, I learned far more than I would have ever imagined. I got first hand experience working in a close-knit event management group dealing with everything from lectures and conferences, to weddings and menu launches for catering. This internship allowed me to explore the event planning side of Hospitality and get hands on experience seeing how to successfully plan and implement events with a professional organization.
Study abroad highlights: I had an exciting and unique study abroad experience. Though I lived in London for the most part, I traveled almost every weekend while I was abroad. For the three and a half months I was in Europe, I traveled to over ten different countries, experienced a variety of different cultures and atmospheres, and met some amazing life long friends along the way. I learned a lot about myself, being independent, and mastered the art of traveling at the cheapest cost. That being said, you do not need to travel as much as I did to experience different cultures and become independent. In fact, most people do not travel as much as I did while abroad. Many people stay in their host country and get to know that culture as much as they can. Thats what makes studying abroad so self-rewarding...it is your own unique experience, you can choose how you want to live it.
