Internship abroad: Let Me Play, a sports and education company in London
Let Me Play works with young people between the ages of 5-18 to promote positive growth through sports, creative arts, and performing arts. At Let Me Play, my primary responsibilities were on the Schools Team where I promoted and taught soccer and arts to students aged 5-10. This internship gave me the opportunity to get closely involved and make a positive impact on local London youth and families.
Study abroad highlights: My internship experience taught me more about myself and the world around me than I ever thought was possible. Initially, I was excited at the prospect of working for a sports company in a major city such as London. Being a lifelong soccer player, I thought Let Me Play was a perfect fit for me. However, after working at Let Me Play for 3 and a half months, I would say my favorite parts were just getting the opportunities to develop relationships with locals. I was able to gain a better perspective on global issues by engaging in very simple conversations with my colleagues. A second highlight of my experience was the Global City class I took. This class forced me to learn and explore more than just the “touristy” parts of London. It exposed me to many of the real struggles and concerns many Londoners face on a daily basis.
