I highly recommend interning while abroad to any student wanting to maximize their study abroad experience. Working in a foreign office not only provides amazing skill development, but also allows you to become better acquainted with the culture.

During my fall internship at the Norwood Road Veterinary Surgery, I was able to get an extremely hands-on experience in both the clinical and surgical techniques of a veterinary surgeon and a veterinary nurse. My daily routine included a variety of tasks including pre- and post-operation care, taking blood samples, drawing up vaccines, and giving customer advice. The veterinary surgery was a multi-cultural work environment with British, Australian, Welsh, and American women and it has well aquainted me with both living and working abroad!

The first day of my internship at the ad firm, I was a bit more than intimidated walking into an office of complete strangers. I felt so singled out, so young, so entirely American. As the days passed we’ve all become increasingly friendly and I’ve learned more by participation than I ever would have inside of a classroom. I’m thankful that I had the opportunity to intern while I was abroad. It gave me work experience on which I will depend to help make a career decision and also exposed me to a new culture in an unusual way. Interning, for me, has definitely been a valuable experience.

My experience with the Events team at the D&D London head office is more than I ever could have imagined! I have learned so much about events planning as well as the restaurant industry in general. The people at head office are wonderful and they have made me feel at home right away. I truly love coming to work every day and I could not have been placed with a better company!

At Dulwich Hamlet FC, I am in charge of conducing marketing strategies in order to help the awareness of the club in the community. My internship has been an excellent experience and I enjoy going to work everyday. My supervisor has given me a lot of responsibility and trusts me to conduct it in an efficient and professional manner.

As a whole, the entire CAPA staff is very professional, very helpful, always available, and makes me feel right at home abroad. Also, what a fabulous internship they found me! I love it, and it is giving me incredible field work experience I could probably not receive in the United States!
-Megan Kolb, University of Massachusetts, Spring 2008
I had a great internship at Mutual Valores. The CAPA Staff were always willing to help and very helpful in all aspects.

I LOVED working for ING Australia. I would suggest it to every student who goes to Sydney to work. They were patient with me on assignments and actually gave me work that I have applied since then in classes and other work situations.
- Melissa Bumbales, Spring 2007
I had the most amazing memorable experience of my life, there is
not one day that goes by that do I do not think about Sydney, the people,
and my life there, and I would do anything to go back. I would recommend this program to anyone!!!
