Affiliate Resources
CAPA Global Cities programs are designed to offer personalized experiences focused on academic quality and cultural engagement through a combination of formal learning and experiential opportunities. Our programs are offered Fall, Spring, Spring quarter, and Summer and offer institutions the advantage of access to all our destinations without the need for a minimum cohort. Institutions can issue their own credit or accept credit from one of our School of Record agreements. There are many benefits to both the institution and the student including automatic scholarships and access to additional scholarships available only to students from CAPA affiliate institutions. |

Benefits of Affiliation
It is possible that your students are already attending CAPA programs as independent students. By becoming an Affiliate, your institution will receive a variety of benefits to assist your office and students.
- Add to your program offerings: Your institution can add overseas opportunities to its portfolio of programs easily with no strings attached. The affiliation is simple and non-binding.
- Financial benefits: CAPA will provide a fixed grant for each affiliate student participating in a semester program ($600) and in a summer program ($300). These scholarships will directly benefit your students and be taken off their bill. No money changes hands. In addition, CAPA provides need and merit based scholarships ranging from $500-$2,500 and designates several $5,000 each semester just for affiliate students. Visit our Scholarship section to learn more.
- Professional development opportunities: CAPA hosts educational seminars, and schedules regular affiliate site visits and Global City Academic Conferences at all of its locations.
- Direct billing arrangements: CAPA will arrange for the invoicing of your students and/or your institution, designed to specifications you request.

Once a year CAPA hosts an Affiliate Site Visit at one of our CAPA program locations.
CAPA’s Affiliate Site Visits are a unique opportunity for campus faculty and administrators to experience first-hand our academic programs. You will learn about our curricular strategy by exploring and analyzing a global city. You will also participate in a co-curricular activity with our students as part of our MyEducation offerings. Our student services staff will share with you the range of support services that we make available to our students. The site visit will also focus on academic course content, campus support, health and safety, course-related travel, and experiential opportunities such as internships.
The Site Visit generally includes:
- Accommodation in a twin room (Single supplement available)
- Some meals
- Welcome reception or dinner
- Opportunities to sit in on CAPA courses
- Walking tours and co-curricular activities that explore the Global City
- Tours of CAPA classrooms, academic and staff facilities, and student accommodations
- Visits to CAPA internship and / or service learning sites (where available)
- Round-table discussions with CAPA staff and colleagues from other U.S. institutions about current student development and service issues
Affiliate Site Visits are highly subsidized and typically cost around $500 for all land costs. If you have any questions, please contact your Institutional Relations Manager at 800-793-0334.
The location and dates for the 2013 Affiliate Site Visit will be available in mid-November. See a sample itinerary from the April 2012 London Affiliate Site Visit.
Over 100 colleges and universities are affiliated with CAPA International Education, which helps make the process of applying for a CAPA program easy, and provides access to special affiliate discounts and scholarships. If you are interested in seeing who partners with CAPA, please click here.
Regular Affiliate Grants
Students from affiliate institutions automatically receive $300 grants for Summer Programs and $600 grants for Semester Programs.
Affiliate Need-Based Scholarships
CAPA offers ten (10) $5,000 scholarships per Academic Year to affiliate students who demonstrate high financial need and whose financial aid package is at least 50% of the program fee. To be considered, students must submit the CAPA scholarship application, the full program application and accompanying documents, and any required application fee (if applicable). Students must also meet the minimum GPA requirement of 2.8 and submit a Financial Assessment Form from their home institution financial aid office attesting to their financial need.
Students who receive an affiliate scholarship of $5,000 must also agree to participate in the CAPA Ambassador Program upon their return to campus, as long as their institution allows participation in the program.
In addition to Affiliate Scholarships and Grants, affiliate students may also apply for regular CAPA need, merit, and Access scholarships. For a full overview of all CAPA scholarships, please click here.
